The quiet winner of 4.7's armor overhaul. Heavy hull, high deflection, 52,800 shield HP — it eats fighter fire while its turrets and 16-rack punch back. Cargo bay is the dual-purpose flavor, not the point.

What this build is for

The quiet winner of the 4.7 armor overhaul. Heavy hull, high deflection, four S2 shields — it eats fighter fire while its turrets and 16-rack punch back.

  • The frame the 4.7 PTU thread literally titled "Asgard fixed!" is about
  • 52,800 shield HP across 4× Fullstop S2 — more than most heavy fighters carry
  • 180 SCU cargo bay is the dual-purpose flavor — bounty out, salvage or haul home
  • The answer to "I want a combat ship that doesn't die when an Arrow shows up"

The build

Why 4.7 made this ship work

Pre-4.7, S1–S3 sustained ballistic fire could chip down most heavy hulls eventually — Asgard included. 4.7 introduced an armor minimum-damage threshold: small repeaters and gatlings now do zero against fully-armored heavy hulls. The Asgard, with high physical and energy deflection on top of 77,000 health, suddenly became a frame that legitimately eats fighter fire instead of just enduring it.

The PTU thread shorthand: "Asgard fixed." What was actually fixed is fighter weapons against the Asgard.

On the NN-15 / weapon-data gap

  • Community 4.7 coverage (MMOPixel, a creator walkthrough) cites NN-15 S5 neutron cannons as the Asgard's punch.
  • Our scunpacked-data ingestion shows the Asgard's stock mount layout as S3 wing gimbals + a dual-S3 nose turret. No S5 weapon hardpoint is exposed to us today — same gap we hit with the Paladin's Sledge III.
  • Closest verifiable analog if a future patch surfaces an S5 slot: espr_ballisticcannon_s5 Deadbolt V (1,024 alpha, ammo-bound).
  • We'll publish a follow-up build when the data catches up. For now, the editorial point — 4.7 made this hull tank fighter fire — stands on shields and armor, not weapon size.

Stats at a glance

Burst DPS4,100 (6× S3 ballistic estimate + 16-round rack alpha), Shield HP52,800, EM signature68,267, SCM speed203m/s, Cargo180SCU. Roughly 2× a Hornet's shield HP at fighter-class speed, with a cargo bay no fighter has.

When not to fly this

  • Cap-class bounty. The hull tanks fighter fire; S3 weapons don't cross capital armor. Take a Paladin.
  • Stealth approaches. ~68k EM is loud. Use a Sabre or Eclipse.
  • PvP duels against agile fighters. Wins on durability, not turn rate. An Arrow can stay outside your guns.
  • Pure cargo hauling. 180 SCU is dual-purpose flavor, not a hauler. Take a Hull B or C2.

What patches this is good for

Authored against build 4.7.2-LIVE.11674325. 4.7.0's armor threshold rule is the meta event this build exists to exploit; 4.7.1/4.7.2 ship no balance changes, so the build is 4.7-current. Re-evaluate if a future patch lowers physical deflection on heavy hulls or surfaces the rumored S5 mount in our data.

Highlighted cards are variant changes.
