What this build is for
The consensus solo PvP workhorse, re-picked for 4.7. The old "Wild Knight" Hornet was authored against 4.2.1; 4.7.0's armor threshold and missile rebalance forced new component picks.
- Pilot-vs-pilot reference build for solo dogfighting
- Alpha-focused energy loadout, signature managed
- Not stealth (Sabre); not a cap-class cracker (Paladin)
- The build for someone who wants to fight other players and win
The build
- Wings: 2× espr_lasercannon_s4 Lightstrike IV cannons.
- Nose: 1× espr_lasercannon_s3 Lightstrike III. high-alpha energy — clears 4.7's armor threshold for any non-capital target.
- Power plants: 2× powr_tydt_s01_slipstream_scitem Slipstream S1, replacing stock Regulus. Drops EM materially without losing combat performance.
- Stock cool_aegs_s01_bracer_scitem Bracer coolers, shld_godi_s01_allstop_scitem AllStop shields, qdrv_rsi_s01_eos_scitem Eos QDrive, radr_grnp_s01_ecouter Ecouter radar, stock missile racks.
On 4.7's combat changes
- Armor threshold: S1–S3 sustained ballistics do zero damage to armored heavies. Lightstrike IV alpha clears the bar for fighters.
- Missile rebalance: hull-only damage now. Stock quad-S1 racks still useful as "soften the target."
- Passive cross-section removed: EM/IR are the gating signals. Slipstream swap matters because of this. (ggwtb 4.7 stealth/radar)
Stats at a glance
Burst DPS2,700, Shield HP7,920, EM signature22,000, IR signature8,252, SCM speed220m/s. Roughly 17% more burst DPS than the Shiv with comparable shields and a better airframe for sustained fights.
When not to use this build
- Solo PvE bounty. Shiv is cheaper, Paladin punches harder.
- Stealth approach. Medium-high EM. Use a Sabre.
- Multi-target combat. Duelist build. Bring an org for 2v1+.
- Cap-class targets. S4 alpha clears fighter armor, not cap-class. Paladin/Sledge III is the cap-cracker.
What patches this is good for
Authored against build 4.7.2-LIVE.11674325. 4.7.0 is the meta-defining patch (armor threshold, missile rebalance, passive-CS removal). 4.7.1/4.7.2 are content-only. F7C MK II got a substantial 4.7-era HP buff (1,650 → 8,250 per Erkul live-differences).
Highlighted cards are variant changes.
