What this build is for
The high-end stealth pick — but read the framing carefully. The Eclipse isn't a stealth scout (the Sabre is). It's a stealth-strike capital killer. You arrive without a ping, deliver three Size 9 torpedoes, and quantum out before anyone confirms what hit them.
- 8,292 EM — the quietest hull in the entire slate
- S9 torpedo bay = capital-class alpha damage
- All system components are dedicated stealth models (Tidewater PP, Vaporblock coolers, Veil shields)
- Built for one job: anti-capital strike runs
The build
- Wing weapons: 2× espr_lasercannon_s2 Lightstrike II S2 cannons. defensive only — you're not dogfighting in this hull.
- Torpedo bay: stock mrck_s09_aegs_eclipse Eclipse S9 rack. The whole point of the ship.
- Power: stock powr_tydt_s01_deltamax_scitem Tidewater Deltamax. Dedicated stealth PP.
- Coolers: stock 2× cool_tydt_s01_vaporblock_scitem Vaporblock. Dedicated stealth coolers.
- Shields: stock 2× shld_asas_s01_veil_scitem Veil. Dedicated stealth shields.
- QDrive: stock qdrv_raco_s01_drift_scitem Racos Drift. Dedicated stealth QD.
Why Eclipse over Sabre
The recommended-tier Sabre is the stealth-scout pick — pure low-signature flight for getting in and out without combat. The Eclipse is a different job:
- Sabre: -20% all-axis signatures, dogfight-capable, no torpedo bay
- Eclipse: -30%-equivalent signatures and dedicated stealth components on every system and an S9 torpedo bay
- Sabre Comet (the previously-considered alt): a dogfighting variant with a paint job, not a stealth uplift. Same -20% as base Sabre. Don't buy it for stealth.
- Sabre Raven exists but is unobtainable (2017 Intel Optane promo only).
On 4.7's stealth meta
- Passive cross-section detection removed in 4.7.0. Idle ship size no longer broadcasts your presence — only EM and IR matter for active radar pings (ggwtb 4.7 stealth/radar guide).
- The Eclipse's 8,292 EM is roughly 38% of a Sabre's signature (22k+) and ~12% of a Hornet's (68k). At this signature level you appear on long-range radar at the last possible moment.
- The torpedo run is single-shot. You commit, you fire, you leave. Don't try to brawl after.
Stats at a glance
Burst DPS600, Shield HP5,610, EM signature8,292, SCM speed210m/s, Cargo0SCU. Burst DPS is the wing pair only — the real weapon is the torpedo alpha, which doesn't fit the burst-DPS model.
When not to use this build
- Stealth scouting / no-combat reconnaissance. Sabre is the build. The Eclipse can scout, but you're paying for capabilities you won't use.
- Sustained combat. 5,610 shield HP is fragile by design. You can't trade.
- Multi-target fights. One torpedo run = one target. Re-engagement is a long quantum trip back to refit.
- Anything in safe space. No reason to fly stealth when nobody's hunting you.
What patches this is good for
Authored against build 4.7.2-LIVE.11674325. The 4.7.0 passive-CS-removal change is the meta-defining shift that elevated dedicated EM/IR-stealth ships like the Eclipse over generic "small + agile" stealth picks. Eclipse stock loadout unchanged across 4.7.x.
Highlighted cards are variant changes.
