What this build is for
The 4.7 answer to "I have 5–6M aUEC and want one ship that does everything reasonably well." Heavy fighter from Grey's Market, Cutlass-class internals, real teeth.
- Handles MRT through HRT bounties cleanly
- Tolerates VHRT with the Attrition-4 swap
- Bounces off ERT — use a Paladin for that
- The graduate-from-Avenger pick that doesn't commit you to a Hornet's combat-only profile
The build
- Weapons: 2× espr_lasercannon_s4 Lightstrike IV cannons, replacing the stock Breakneck S4 ballistic gatlings. Energy alpha clears 4.7's armor threshold; gatlings don't.
- Pilot turret: stock glsn_shiv_remote_turret S3 — switch to it when body weapons cool down.
- Systems stock: powr_sasu_s02_daybreak_scitem Daybreak PP, 2× cool_lplt_s02_coldsnap_scitem Coldsnap coolers, qdrv_tars_s02_odyssey_scitem Odyssey QDrive, shld_seco_s02_stop_scitem Sirius Stop S2 shield (Aspis swap is strictly better in 4.7 if you see ballistic-pirate matchups).
On 4.7's armor threshold
- Stock Breakneck S4 gatlings are exactly the case 4.7's threshold rule was designed to break.
- Lightstrike IV is the simplest fix: high per-shot energy alpha stays above the threshold, no ammo cost.
- For VHRT or Hammerhead-class hulls, swap to Attrition-4 repeaters — the laser whose alpha crosses cap-class thresholds.
- energy alpha is the 4.7 default for solo combat ships handling armored targets.
Stats at a glance

When not to use this build
- VLRT / low-tier bounty. Overkill. Avenger Titan earns more aUEC/hour.
- VHRT or ERT. Shiv handles HRT cleanly; ERT pushes you to Paladin (alpha-strike) or Hornet F7C MK II.
- PvP dogfighting. Heavy fighter, not a dogfighter. Take Gladius/Arrow/Sabre for duels.
- Cargo runs. 32 SCU is incidental. Use a Cutlass Black or Hull B.
What patches this is good for
Authored against build 4.7.2-LIVE.11674325. Shiv shipped with 4.7.0; loadout above is 4.7-current consensus across multiple guides (ggwtb, MMOPIXEL). The 4.7 Aspis HP buff (6,300 → 9,000) makes the shield swap stronger than in prior patches.
